Visitors braved the cold to enjoy the Manor’s snowdrop displays along the moat and woodland walks, as well as enjoying refreshments and a visit from George, the local Clydesdale horse.

Money raised will go to Cambridge Acorn Project, a Histon based charity supporting children, young people, and families who have experienced trauma and abuse, often alongside the challenges of poverty.

The event in numbers:

  • The event raised £3,300 – the most the charity has ever fundraised in a single day
  • This was the Manor’s fifth snowdrop walk
  • 125 tea and cake tickets were sold
  • Around 700 visitors attended
  • 100% of proceeds from tickets and gate donations went to Cambridge Acorn Project
  • Histon Manor has raised £8,000 in total for the charity so far this year

“Heartening support”

Katherine Mann, owner of Histon Manor, said: “I’m just delighted how popular the snowdrop walk is becoming.

“It’s lovely to see our regular supporters who so kindly turn up for each event come rain or shine and I cannot thank them enough. It was a wonderful day, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and generosity of our volunteers — everything from helping run the event to baking cakes and serving teas.

“It was heartening to see such strong support for the Cambridge Acorn Project while people enjoyed the snowdrops.”
