The future of the South Road play area, liaising with village sports clubs and a possible committee restructure will be discussed at a Parish Council meeting next week.
H&I Parish Council’s Wellbeing, Recreation and Leisure Committee will meet on Monday (6 July) at 7.30pm for its first meeting of the new municipal year.
The South Road play area project is featured on the agenda. Members will consider the next steps, which hope to unlock generating ideas for the site and carrying out a public consultation with residents.
Councillors will also co-opt representatives from the village’s sports clubs to the Committee. They are also being asked to agree that clubs provide membership data and information about how members travel to and from their facilities.
A proposal to restructure the committee is also on the agenda for consideration at the meeting. Under the plans, members would trial a meeting as a working group rather than a formal Parish Council Committee.
A Deputy Chair for the Committee will be elected for the meeting. HI HUB understands that Cllr Chris Hobbs will remain as Chair for the coming year. There will be updates from the Recreation Development Group and Youth Provision Group.
H&I Parish Council’s Wellbeing, Recreation and Leisure Committee will take place on Monday 6 July, 2026, in the Community Room at the Rec, starting at 7.30pm. For full details, see the agenda pack here.
