The Parish Council’s Planning and Development Committee will be reviewing a licensing application from the Rose and Crown at its next meeting. The committee will next meet on Tuesday (9 June) in the Community Room at the Recreation Ground.
The application seeks to add the new extension known as “The Barn” to the premises plan and expand the licensable area to also include the extension, the garden and the terrace.
Landlord Steve Snudden said another change being requested reflects updates to national licensing laws, which mean activities such as live music no longer need to be listed on the pub’s premises licence.
Steve added: “Our back garden area will be non-smoking and will close at 10pm at the request of our neighbours. The front bar terrace will be open until 11pm the same as the pub.
“I am hoping to be able to start some live music once the barn is open, nothing too crazy but a once a month event to begin with. We shall also start (hopefully) a monthly pub quiz hosted by one of our neighbors/regulars.”
He added: “So big plans!”
The Rose and Crown was granted planning permission for its upgrades in November of last year. Milton Brewery took over the pub in the autumn of 2024. The pub also hosts a popular weekly chess club.
