Chris Nunn has been appointed manager of the men’s First Team at Histon FC with the aim of “moving the club forward”.
The announcement was made this week via the club’s website. This is the second time Nunn has held the top job at the Bridge Road club, having previously been manager from October 2023 before leaving in 2025 to take up the role of assistant manager at St Neots Town FC.
Chris was replaced at the club by management duo Matt Payne and Mark Critoph in September 2025, citing extreme work pressures and feeling he could not give the club the commitment it deserved.
Under their joint management the team spent much of the 2025/26 season in the top six of the table.
However Nunn now faces a significant challenge as the team has lost all seven league games so far this season (2026/27) and currently sit joint bottom of the table.
“Pulling together”
The board at Histon FC hopes that the new appointment will “move the club forward”, and said: “Chris wants to finish what he started and has committed to the role for future years”.
The board expressed its thanks to Matt Payne and Nick Hurst for their hard work in rebuilding the team, particularly after losing most of last year’s players at the start of this season: “it has been a tough ask, and this has been reflected in the difficult start to the season”.
The board’s statement continued: “The club really appreciates that the last couple of months has caused frustration for our loyal supporters, but everyone at the club is working hard to improve the position and work our way back up the league. I trust that we will all pull together and give the support Chris will need”.
