Pump track, Rec proposals, youth work, and High Street lighting on the agenda for final Full Council meeting

-

Residents are welcome at the next Full Parish Council meeting, the final meeting before all seats on the Council will be up for election in May. It will also be the end of an era for Councillor Denis Payne, who has served as a parish councillor in the village for nearly 31 years, with periods both as the Chair and Vice Chair. He and a number of others, yet to be announced, will not be standing for re-election, making way for a new Council to take on projects and challenges on behalf of residents over the next four years. Nominations will open on 30 March 2026 and close at 4.00pm on 9 April 2026.

Agenda items for the meeting include a report by the Pump Track Working Group who will be commissioning a confidential report from pump track design specialists. They will visit the Rec and suggest option/s for a pump track there and provide visual layouts. These, together with comments from the Pump Track Working Group, the HI Pump Track Charity and interested community groups, will be used to produce a report and recommendations for presentation to a Full Council meeting in June 2026.

Other items on the agenda include:

  • proposals for a further £4,680 of consultancy fees in connection with proposals for £3.8 million of development work at the Rec;
  • a report on the £28,760 of contracts for Connections Bus and HI Friends to deliver youth work in the village in 2026/7
  • a request for £16,000 to be earmarked for festive lights to be installed around the High Street to provide character to the centre of the village
  • updates from Working Party conveners covering Cambridge Science Park North, the Neighbourhood Plan, IVC liaison and Communications
  • Parish council responses to consultations, including the Community Infrastructure Levy Draft Charging Schedule, Local Government Reorganisation in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough; and establishing a Development Corporation in Greater Cambridge.

The meeting of the Full Parish Council takes place on Monday 16 March in the Community Room at the Rec, starting at 7.30pm. All Histon & Impington residents are invited to attend to listen to the debates, and any resident wishing to address the meeting should contact the office to request a slot.
