Help for local residents struggling with the cost of living is being offered by South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC).
A budget of £449,000 for the cost-of-living support package has been set aside over the next two years to help residents facing financial difficulties.
Support for residents includes funding for emergency food; white goods and furniture for vulnerable people; laptops and digital training for young people and older residents to reduce digital exclusion and Community Hubs (warm places run by trained volunteers.)
The package also sets aside money for energy support, as well as workshops and budgeting and debt advice for households at risk of financial hardship.
The funding forms part of the council’s Corporate Plan and Budget which was agreed at Full Council this week.

Know your benefits
In addition, the council’s ‘Low-Income Family Tracker’ is continuing to identify local households at risk of financial hardship to make sure they are claiming any benefits they are entitled to. Residents can also check what they are entitled to themselves here.
Cllr Henry Batchelor for South Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “With cost-of-living pressures continuing, it’s vital to maintain the momentum and keep delivering practical solutions.
“This is about practical, long-term support that strengthens our communities and ensures no one is left behind”.
