There will be no Parish Council election this May after too few candidates came forward to fill the available seats.
With nominations now closed, 15 candidates have been put forward for 19 seats. As a result, all those nominated will be elected unopposed, leaving four vacancies on the council.
Contested Parish Council elections are rare in South Cambridgeshire. For example, Impington’s most recent Parish Council election was held in 2022, the previous one having taken place in 1987.
This year, Parish Council elections will only be held in Fowlmere, Foxton, Papworth Everard, Thriplow Heathfield and Thriplow Village.
New Parish Council
Histon & Impington’s new Parish Council will take office from 7 May, 2026.
The following Parish Councillors will continue in their roles:-

- Stephen Carrington
- Aga Cahn
- Neil Davies
- Tom Hindley
- Christopher Hobbs
- Louise Goodsell
- Simon Jocelyn
- Geoff Moore
- Yvonne Murray
- David Legge
- Sarah Smith
- Edd Stonham
- Joe Utteridge
They will be joined by two new councillors, John Dent and Adam Morgan. Edd Stonham and Adam Morgan are also Green Party candidates in the SCDC elections.
Five councillors have stepped down: Joseph Adam, Sarah Allen, James Leonard, Marcus Thomassen and Denis Payne, who retires after more than 30 years of service. Jennifer Crockford resigned earlier this year.
The four remaining vacancies can be filled through co-option, with the Parish Council expected to invite applications from local residents in due course.
In a statement, the council said it is “grateful to everyone who put themselves forward”, adding: “We also want to thank those who are not standing again for the time and commitment they have given to the village.
“Across the country, Parish and Town councils are taking on a wider range of responsibilities as more decisions are being made at neighbourhood level. We see that here too.
“Residents regularly raise questions, frustrations and ideas about how the village works, and that level of engagement shows there is real interest in shaping local solutions. It helps the Council understand what people need and where practical improvements could make a difference.
“Over the coming months, we hope more residents will talk with us about what is working well and what could work better.”
