A former H&I Parish Councillor who resigned earlier this month has been thanked “for her service, support and unwavering commitment” to the Council.
Jennifer Crockford had been a member of the Council since the last election in May 2022. Her resignation was officially acknowledged on 7 January 2026.
In her report to Councillors for Monday’s (19 January) Full Parish Council meeting, Chair Councillor Yvonne Murray said: “Jennifer stepped up to chair Planning [Committee] when needed and brought meticulous preparation to every meeting. Her contribution has strengthened our decisions and our culture.”
Yvonne added: “We send our very best wishes to Jennifer for all she has given to this Council and for her future.”
When Jennifer first joined the Council, she told HI HUB: “Preserving the character of the village is important to me. I want to build on this for a sustainable future.”
The Parish Council has confirmed it is not required to co-opt a replacement, as local elections are scheduled for May. The seat will therefore remain vacant until then.
Meanwhile, South Cambridgeshire District Council has confirmed that it still intends to hold elections this May, despite central government offering councils the option to delay them amid ongoing local government reorganisation.
