England’s World Cup quarter final against Norway on Saturday (11 July) saw the new team at Impington’s Railway Vue throw open the doors with a warm welcome, cold beer and free snacks for all.
New tenants Richard Lawrie and Rachel Robinson, along with Rachel’s son Theo and partner Gracie, have hit the ground running with World Cup matches drawing in the crowds for opening week and offers of discounted beer keeping fans refreshed.
Challenges ahead
Rachel and Richard are not totally new to the pub game, having taken over Freckenham’s Golden Boar Inn just a year ago. The months ahead will see them remain very hands on here in Impington – with Theo permanently resident on site managing the tasks involved in running a village pub. Menus are being drawn up with plans for traditional home made pub favourites and bar snacks. A major kitchen overhaul is needed before food can begin and an advert is also out for a chef so get in touch if you are interested.
The team plans to retain the pool table and hopes to turn the pub’s front bar facing Station Road into a dedicated dining area. Plans are for a variety of events including charity fundraisers, bingo nights, quizzes and live music.
Bringing a ‘spirit of community’
Sharing her excitement at this new venture, Rachel said: “We aim to bring consistency, warmth, and a spirit of community to the Railway Vue and are personally dedicated to seeing this project through to the very end.
“The Railway Vue and its valued customers have already become an integral part of our journey, and we truly appreciate the opportunity to learn what people would love to see as we move forward.
“We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the incredible support we have received so far. Your enthusiasm and feedback inspire us every day and we remain committed to delivering an exceptional experience for everyone involved. We appreciate you all continuing to support us as we move forward”.
