The mobile library service that visits Histon every month now gives out dinner kits to those struggling with increasing food costs.
The free ‘Dinnerize’ kits, available from Cam Mobile Libraries and donated by the Re-Imagine Resource Centre, contain everything needed to make a family meal.
Dinnerize uses surplus food to create simple, nutritious meals that support shared family dinners, build confidence in cooking, and reduce food waste.
More than just books
The food help is the latest addition to the expanding list of services available to the community from the libraries on wheels, which now stock NHS hearing aid batteries, walking stick ferrules, second-class postage stamps and reading glasses.

The buses, which visit Histon on the fourth Thursday of the month, already carry up to 3,000 fiction, non-fiction and large print books as well as titles on CD and cassette, and children’s books.
The mobile library (C25 route) will next visit Histon on Thursday 23 April 2026, stopping first at St Audrey’s Close from 2.30pm till 2.45pm, and then at Kay Hitch Way from 2.55pm until 3.25pm. Membership is available onboard and items can be ordered and reserved in advance.
