Histon FC Ladies have secured promotion to the Eastern Region Women’s Football League, Premier Division.
The squad sealed their place at the top of the table in the Eastern Region Division One North with a 1-0 victory away at Colney Heath FC Ladies over Easter.
The promotion comes after a highly successful season for the Bridge Road club’s women’s first team which has seen them win 24 out of 26 league and cup matches to date, with two home league fixtures left to play.
The result betters last season when the team finished second place in their league.
The team is set to round off their winning season with the Cambridgeshire Women’s Invitation Cup Final against Cambridge United Women at 7.30pm on Wednesday 29 April at Cambridge City FC’s ground.
Team effort
On the promotion, a spokesperson for Histon FC said: “This is not just a football result. This is the product of dedication, sacrifice, early mornings, late nights, and an unwavering belief from a squad that has given everything to this club and to each other throughout this season”.
They continued: “To every player who has pulled on that shirt this season – you have made Histon Football Club incredibly proud. To the manager and coaching staff who have guided, supported and believed in this group from day one – thank you. And to the family, friends and supporters who have followed this team home and away – you are part of this too”.
Histon FC Ladies’ next home fixture is against Newmarket Town Ladies on Sunday 19 April with a 2pm kick off.
