HIGS calendar showcases “nature as part of our village life”

-

The latest edition of the Histon & Impington Green Spaces (HIGS) calendar, featuring photographs taken by nature-loving villagers, is now available to buy.

The 2027 calendar features 13 winning images from HIGS’ annual photography competition which ran under the theme: “Nature as part of our village life.”

The popular competition, now in its fifth year, was judged anonymously over the summer and runs in support of Histon & Impington Green Spaces, the charity which supports Abbey Fields for the community.

First time success

This year’s calendar also showcases the photographic talents of several newly winning entrants; including Bridget Davidson, Gill Atmore and HIGS’ own David Berry and Katharine Holliday.

Speaking about the inspiration behind her photo, Embroidery, Bridget Davidson told HI HUB: “As a forager of wild flowers, I always notice beautiful plant material when I walk. The wild clematis caught my eye as I loved how it embroidered itself through the regular geometry of the manmade fencing”.

A “delighted” David Berry who captured Early Spring Flowers at Histon Green, told HI HUB: “I’ve been trying every year there’s been a HIGS calendar so to have a winning photo after all this time is great. Especially as my wife had a winning photo last year!”

The photographer behind July’s Long Meadow Sunset, Gill Atmore said: “I’m so pleased (and surprised!) to have been successful in this year’s calendar competition. There are a lot of talented photographers in Histon & Impington, but my perseverance paid off! Thank you to the judges”.

Guy Richardson for HIGS said: “Many congratulations to all the entrants. We sold several hundred calendars for the charity last year, so we are hoping for even more successful sales this year!”
