Four council vacancies open for applications

-

Applicants can now apply for the four remaining councillor vacancies on H&I Parish Council.

The vacancies have arisen after too few candidates came forward to fill the available seats in the lead up to the May local elections. Fifteen candidates were nominated for the 19 available seats.

Yvonne Murray, Chair of the Parish Council, explained the roles are opportunities for residents to influence local decision-making and spending in various areas.

She said: “[The] Parish Council is working on transport, recreation, biodiversity, youth provision and the refresh of the Neighbourhood Plan.

“Much of this work has the potential to shape daily life now and the future of our villages. I have learned how much good is done at village level and how important Parish Councils are.”

Yvonne added: “All skills matter and you do not need to see yourself as a typical councillor to contribute. These vacancies are a chance to support Councillors, Clerk and staff team and to help shape the place where we live.
