This year marks 100 years of Histon and Impington’s Recreation Ground and, from 24-28 June, the Rec will be the setting for five days of celebrations.
Led by HI Friends, a full programme of activities is being put together including musical, sporting, historical and comedy events for all ages across the community. Events will take place both outside on the Rec and in a dedicated festival marquee.
One particular highlight of the celebrations is a Sportsman’s dinner and conversation with former World Featherweight Boxing Champion – and I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contestant Barry McGuigan, who will be in the marquee on Wednesday 24 June.
Other planned events include:

- Comedy night hosted by local legends Custard Comedy
- Afternoon tea party for the elderly including Brook Primary School choir
- Graffiti Classics in concert – dubbed the world’s most hilarious string quartet
- Band party night
- Screening of the World Cup
- Under 5’s picnic
- Village Society Recreation Ground Centenary Exhibition
- Churches Together on Sunday morning followed by Family Funday, with inflatables!
- Finale featuring local choir, the Impingtones, as they celebrate their tenth anniversary
