Festivities and fond farewells as Feast Week approaches

-

Histon and Impington Feast week is nearly here and promises to be packed with entertainment, community events and opportunities to come together as a village to raise funds for local groups and good causes.

This year’s Feast week takes place from Saturday 27 June to Sunday 5 July 2026 and features everything from breakfast with the wildlife at the Orchard and cream teas served by Girl Guides at Histon Methodist Church; to a bingo night at the Legion and a performance from Moonlight Mandolins at Saint Andrew’s Histon.

“A special year”

This year also sees the Feast committee collaborate with two local organisations: wellbeing charity HI Friends – to celebrate the centenary of the village Recreation Ground – and H&I Open Gardens – who are donating funds from this year’s event to Feast good causes. Look out for further details about the centenary celebrations in HI HUB.

The Feast Magazine has more details about the planned events and the community groups who benefitted from Feast funding last year. It is available to buy at local shops including Topiary Tree, Gin House Flowers and the Post Office.

Community groups will also be going door-to-door selling the magazine, which costs £2.50. It can be purchased with cash or there is a QR code inside the magazine for payment.

Thank you and Goodbye…

This year also marks the end of an era for the Feast, as Steve Cox stands down as Chair of the Feast Committee, after a decade and a half in the role.

The Committee is hoping to welcome new members keen to support this popular village event. To run effectively, the Feast relies heavily on valued volunteers who get involved with everything from risk assessments and road closures to raffle ticket selling and many other tasks.

Showing appreciation for Steve’s time in the role, a committee spokesperson said: “The committee would like to say a huge thank you to Steve, whose leadership, humour and patience has seen the Feast through a pandemic, some truly terrible weather, and many more wonderful community moments.

“Committee meetings, and indeed the Feast itself, won’t be the same without you Steve, but we are so grateful for all you’ve done!”

Full details of all Feast Week events can be found in the Feast magazine or online at the Feast website. Keep an eye on HI HUB What’s On pages for listings of Feast Week events. You can donate to the feast via their Just Giving page.
