Milton Brewery owned village local, the Rose and Crown, threw open the doors on its long awaited extension this week.
Pub group Individual Pubs Ltd, established to run pubs serving Milton Brewery beers, took over the premises in November 2024 and subsequently requested Listed Building Consent to replace some outbuildings with a new single storey side and rear extension, also including an air source heat pump. These plans were initially turned down by South Cambs District Council in February 2025 with revised plans submitted in June that year.
In November 2025, HI HUB reported that planning permission had finally been granted, with landlord Steve Snudden sharing his relief that they could now “crack on” with the work.
Take a seat!
Seven months on, and the pub is now welcoming villagers in to enjoy the extra space with increased indoor seating and a newly refurbished paved outdoor space and grassed garden area.
The pub doesn’t have a date for the kitchen yet so, for the time being, food trucks will continue to visit. Talking to HI HUB, Steve shared: “We’re all very excited to welcome everybody to come and have a beer and check it out! Such a relief to finally have it (mostly) done after all this time.
“I think it looks fantastic and would encourage people to come and have a look and enjoy a cheeky pint!”

It’s asolutely great space, but with all the hard reflecting roof surfaces, even a few people can make the noise overwhelming. Hopefully, some acoustic tiles will follow to dampen the bathroom acoustic. Milton Brewery pubs seem to have this effect like the Haymakers on Thursday where the Cambridge Shouting Club seems to meet regularly and make conversation impossible (so you drink more beer; cunning!)
