A Histon care home resident is being recognised by staff and neighbours at Etheldred House for his “incredible achievements” as a published author.
Staff took the opportunity of World Book Day last week to recognise the achievements of Peter, who wrote a book on his own concept of “360-degree feedback” – a way of training managers and helping them improve through assessment from individuals in their workplace.

Staff at Etheldred house described Peter, who lives with dementia as, “a person who has shaped the way in which training is delivered to this day”.
Huge impact
Throughout his career, Peter worked in personnel at some of the biggest consumer brands, including Chrysler, Jaguar and Austin Rover.
Then after landing a role as Group Training Director for Tesco in 1985 – he used his experience in HR roles to come up with the new approach to progress reviews.
Peter wrote the book 360-Degree Feedback in 1997, to share this training method and the benefits of adopting it. It was published and endorsed by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, who recognised it as a credible and useful resource for people in the HR, management and development industries.
Creativity and determination

Santall Horn, Home Manager of Etheldred House said, “Everyone at the home was delighted to celebrate Peter during World Book Day. Peter has shown incredible creativity and determination, and we are immensely proud of him. Recognising and remembering his work on such a special day meant a great deal to our community.
“Moments like this highlight the unique talents, stories and contributions of the people who live here, and Peter’s accomplishment has been truly inspiring for both residents and team members alike.”
