Drinkers left thirsty as Railway Vue shuts doors once again

-

Villagers arriving for a drink at Impington local, the Railway Vue, have expressed their shock at finding the pub closed less than a month since the most recent management took over.

Concerned villagers took to local social media to ask ‘what’s happened to the Railway Vue….it’s shut?’ and to share concerns about its future having seen an ever increasing number of managers take the keys since the departure of long-time landlord Dean Hall on New Year’s Eve 2024. Comments included: ‘something weird with that place, is it haunted?’ and ‘unbelievable – it’s had more leaders than our government!’.

A succession of managers

In mid January 2025 the pub was taken over by locals to the area Raimonda and Lance but they left in the summer of that same year. Since then, it has seen regular management changes with a major refurbishment taking place in October 2025 and the pub subsequently managed by Daniel Johnson of leaseholder Desire Inns.

Daniel Johnson announced his departure in May this year explaining on Facebook: “Due to the current climate” and the distance between The Railway Vue and the main base of pub management in Worksop, this makes it difficult for us to effectively manage the day-to-day running of the business and give the pub the support it deserves. A new management company will be taking over from 2 June”.

‘Top priority’

HI HUB has spoken to brewery owner Punch Pubs, who are located in Burton on Trent asking whether our readers can feel assured this village local has a future. Operations Manager David Hill said: “We can confirm that The Railway Vue will re-open on the 10th of July under new leadership. Rachel and Richard are looking forward to taking over the pub and embedding themselves into the community.

“They have many exciting plans lined up for the summer and beyond and look forward to welcoming the community back through the doors to enjoy them. We know how much this pub means locally, so seeing it back open and thriving is our top priority. Further updates will be shared in the coming week.”
