Cameras at the ready for HIGS’ photo competition 2026

-

The annual village photography competition run by the Histon and Impington Green Spaces (HIGS) charity is now open for entries.

The popular competition is in its fifth year and this time the theme for entrants is “Nature as part of our village life”.

Competition winners will have their images included in the 2027 village calendar and all proceeds from its sale go to the HIGS charity. Last year’s calendar sold out.

Organisers stress that it is important to submit entries in landscape (horizontal) format rather than portrait – so that the image is compatible with the calendar.

The photography competition is open to everyone and the closing date for entries is Friday 31 July. Images must be taken within the parishes of Histon and Impington, or close by, and must have been taken within the last five years.

“Everyday” nature

HIGS’ Guy Richardson said: “We hope to receive photographs with a broader village theme this year, showing how nature is part of our everyday life – perhaps a sunset over the village green, wildlife in someone’s back garden or wildflowers in a no-mow May lawn?”

Full details and the online entry form can be found on the HIGS website here.
