Bus driver strikes cancelled

-

The Managing Director of Stagecoach East says he is “pleased to say” that all upcoming bus driver strikes have been cancelled. Workers at the company’s Cambridge depot were planning to continue their industrial action on three dates next week.

But this morning (Thursday), Stagecoach boss Darren Roe confirmed to HI HUB that the further walkouts will not be going ahead.

He said: “I am delighted for our customers, in Cambridge, that we will now be able to return to offer all the essential services that you rely on to get to work, school and college, attend medical appointments, and stay connected with family and friends.”

He added: “We will now get back to doing what we do best – working for the benefit of others by connecting people through bus services, to their jobs, their communities, loved ones and friends.

“I would like to put on record my thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to maintain services during this difficult time.”

Unite the union previously explained the dispute centred around pay. Around 200 Stagecoach workers took part in strikes on days around the Christmas period and last month.
