A team of village ‘handymen’ from the Men’s Shed group got together this week to start repair work on the wooden planter outside Redmayne Arnold & Harris estate agents.
The work party, which included volunteers Nick Wood, Roger Clarke, Cedric Foster and Geoff Grayton, moved over a ton of soil and gravel from the planter to a large builders’ bag, so that damage to the container could be assessed.
The planter was repainted and relocated last summer from outside of the premises previously occupied by Rutland Cycles, to its new home on the corner of the High Street, and may have been damaged or ‘blown’ as a result of the move. The Men’s Shed group will now inspect the planter to see if it can be repaired, and will undertake the repairs themselves.
If the planter cannot be salvaged, Redmayne Arnold & Harris have offered to replace it. The group would like to thank them, and also Travis Perkins for providing the builders’ bag free of charge.
